Scheduled to open in late summer 2008, a new Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course will be the centerpiece of the Campeche Playa, Golf, Marina and Spa Resort, an oceanfront, eco-tourist complex on the gulf coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. For 250 Founder members, benefits will include special greens fee pricing, complimentary membership in the yacht club, and several golf-related gifts, such as an electric golf car and Nicklaus golf equipment. A 2-hour drive southwest of Merida in the colonial city of Campeche, the development will ultimately comprise 3,045 units--condos, villas and homes--two luxury hotels, a 150-slip marina, beautiful beaches, a town center and a medical clinic among other infrastructure. A hotel, the marina, golf course, town center and 1,243 units are expected to be operational by mid-2008. The Nicklaus course will be a beauty, weaving through dense jungles and mangroves, with at least three holes hugging the ocean.
